You cannot adjust what you cannot see
A pre-mixed herbal hair powder might contain six botanicals in proportions nobody discloses, plus something to bulk it out. If it works for you, you cannot reproduce it from anywhere else. If it does not, you cannot say why.
Single ingredients put both of those back in your hands. Two spoons of shikakai to one of reetha is a ratio you can write down, repeat and change.
The patch-test argument
